All About RACSTOP
Q & A with Adrianna Delvo, Benefits Enrollment Coordinator/SMART Recovery Facilitator and Amber Leichtle, Clinical Administrator, LCSW, LADAC.
What is RACSTOP?
RACSTOP stands for the Rio Arriba County Substance Treatment Outreach Prevention Program. The RACSTOP’s mission: “Our Mission is to promote alternatives to alcohol and drug misuse and abuse by developing community relationships through coordinating, planning and collaborative efforts.” Our Vision is to focus on the overall emphasis of the reduction of alcohol and drug related issues
What services do you provide?
RACSTOP offers substance use treatment, recovery support, prevention programs, youth services, and DWI services. We offer a wide range of services, from evidenced based programing and alternative programs within the community and school based as well as Intensive Outpatient Treatment Program. We’re a local resource working to prevent and lessen the negative impacts of alcohol and drug use in Rio Arriba County.
Why does our partnership matter?
The collaboration between RAC STOP and Self Help is vital to ensure individuals seeking treatment have access to appropriate services, thereby reducing health disparities in Rio Arriba County by removing financial barriers. Court-ordered assessments can place an undue burden on individuals and families already struggling to meet basic needs. The funding by Self Help for assessments are essential for determining the appropriate level of treatment. Self Help’s support has assisted many Persons Living with Substance Use Disorders (PLWSUDs) to begin recovery, potentially avoiding additional costs or adverse outcomes.
Over the past three years, support from Self Help has assisted about 40 individuals to access therapeutic services they might not have otherwise received. Many have sustained their recovery and are now living healthy, productive lives. A recent funding recipient, while in treatment, enrolled in and is attending Northern New Mexico College, with dreams of opening his own hospitality business. These accomplishments would not have been possible without the support from Self Help.
What else do you want the community to know about you?
RAC STOP is committed to improving the well-being and health of residents from Rio Arriba County and surrounding areas. We believe all residents deserve equal access to health care regardless of their current socioeconomic factors.
RAC STOP hosts the DWI Planning Council Annual Meeting. This meeting is an opportunity to showcase RAC STOP’s annual accomplishments, and acknowledge those partnerships who have supported RAC STOP throughout the year.
